Things you should know before studying in Ireland

1. EU-EEA Students don’t pay tuition fees. Kind of…

If you’re a student from the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, you’ll be glad to know that you don’t have to pay tuition fees to study in Ireland! However, you do need to pay a “student contribution fee”. This is a mandatory fee that all students, regardless of nationality, have to pay. The student contribution fee varies depending on your university and can reach a maximum value of €3,000 per year.

2. The classes

Contrary to popular belief, the Irish are not all fun and games! When it comes down to it, they take their education seriously. The classes here are challenging but also incredibly engaging. But that’s one of the many reasons why Irish education is one of the best in the world - they play hard, but they also work hard.

3. The language

Ireland is an English-speaking country, but when you land on the Emerald Isle you might get the feeling that everyone is speaking a completely different language. This is because the Irish have their own unique way of speaking English, which can sound quite strange if you’ve never come across it. But don’t worry, you’ll get the hang of it in no time!
